Recombining the DNA of Sherlock Holmes and James Bond

Albuquerque, New Mexico (December , 2012) — Daniel Abraham’s Balfour and Meriwether are what you get when you cross Sherlock Holmes with James Bond, and run that through a Steampunk filter. Two intrepid agents of the British crown battle ancient forces bent on destroying humanity, and more modern threats to their Queen. SnackReads has collected the Balfour and Meriwether stories into a bite size package of fun, “Balfour and Meriwether in 2 Adventures.”

“I first heard ‘Balfour and Meriwether in The Adventure of the Emperor’s Vengeance’ as a podcast from Podcastle’,” says Editorial Director, Josh Gentry. “I was driving down the road listening to it, and just grinning with delight. It’s like cotton candy with wit.”

Daniel Abraham has written some of the best Fantasy of the the 21st Century. His Long Price Quartet is widely regarded as inventive, literate Fantasy for the thinking fan. The Dagger and the Coin, his series in progress, takes the familiar Fantasy tropes you know so well, and gives them a spitball spin that will make your eyes cross. In the Balfour and Meriwether stories, Abraham lets loose and has a blast.

“When I was dreaming up the idea for SnackReads, I had these stories in mind from the start,” says Gentry. “I have them on my phone right now, and they are perfect for dipping into when I’m waiting for a friend to meet me for lunch, or even to keep me sane while I’m sitting next to my son who is watching that video for the two thousandth time.”
